It’s a slight misconception that cellulite treatment is down to what you eat because by eating too much of the wrong food can actually cause the formation of cellulite. It’s believed that the toxins in food are the main contributors to cellulite when in fact it’s the amount of food that you eat that makes your fat cells bigger and the supporting collagen becomes weak and ends up puckering giving the effect of dimpled skin.
Too be more specific a diet high in refined, processed or fatty foods will cause poor circulation and prevent the bodies natural digestive or metabolic process from occurring. This in time will lead to a build up of toxins and a build up of cellulite.
Avoid these foods:
Caffeine and any sugary drinks. The increased energy levels that you get from caffeine may speed up metabolism temporarily but will be short lived leaving you with less energy that before.
Processed foods such as white bread and white pasta as well as cakes and pastry. These are hard to digest
Salt. Too much can make you dehydrated and exacerbate problems of fluid retention and bloating which is said to cause cellulite.
Don’t fry your food, grilling or steaming it is a better option. Restrict red meat to twice a week and eat lean protein such as chicken and fish.
Enjoy these foods:
Fruit and Vegetables. A diet high in antioxidants - vitamins A, C and E and minerals selenium, manganese, zinc and copper - will help to prevent the cell damage from free radicals.
Brown rice, pasta, whole wheat bread and pulses beans keep he digestive system working efficiently.
Salmon oil along with, kelp, fennel, orange, rosemary, ginger, garlic, apple cider, onion, pepper and cloves has been known to help in the treatment of cellulite
Cellulite Creams and Lotions:
There are lots of Cellulite reduction creams and lotions on the market that claim to treat cellulite but the best way to see whether a cream will actually work is to look at the molecular weight. The reason for this is that if the molecules are small enough then they will pass through the skin much easier.
No cream can break down fat. The only way that fat can be dissolved is when your own body breaks down the stored fat. The only thing that can dissolve fat is your own body when it chemically breaks down stored fat and uses it for energy.
Look for these ingredients in creams to gauge their effectiveness:
Aloe Vera: This can reduce the sugar levels in your blood when taken orally so would have some effect if applied to your skin where cellulite is evident.
Retinoid cream: This can reduce the appearance of cellulite by tightening the skin. Its only effective for as long as the cream is applied. Burning and blistering are common side effects.
Aminophylline: Companies sell this cream as a cellulite treatment as it is believed to speed up the breakdown of fat cells. It is usually used with endermologie massage systems which smooth the contours of the cellulite.
Escin: This plant extract has been shown to be a safe and effective treatment to improve circulation. It comes from horse chestnut, has anti-inflammatory properties and is good for vascular problems. There is a possibility it might work for cellulite, although this is yet to be proved.
